August is just about disappeared and come September 21 summer officially ends, but that is no reason to end your summer groove now that the kids are back in school. Why not end one’s summer grove when the kids have returned to school? Simple! Because right now Miami’s arts community is ‘buzzing like a bee’ with so many goings-on in the media these days about events and activities coming on stream beginning next month. In fact, there is still so much going on between now and the end of August.
It doesn’t matter a bit if its arts and crafts, the performing arts, the visual arts, theatre, movies, museums, art festivals or any of the other genres that make up ‘the arts’ experience. As the fall season approaches, October through December is beginning to look very excited here in Metropolitan Miami for locals and tourists alike. Like everything else, however, you need a plan because dollars are always in short supply.
Here's an advance planning tip: A great resource for what’s happening in the arts or what to do generally is the Miami Herald’s ‘Weekend Supplement’ which comes out each Friday. If you don’t have access to the Herald’s Friday print, not to worry. You can log onto the Herald’s website and click on the Entertainment tab. Once there, you’ll see listed, performing arts, visual arts and movies to name a few genres in that section. Just click on your favorite artsy topic to find out what’s happening new that weekend as well as into the following week.
The Miami Art Guide Online is also another great source to have at your finger tips for information on what’s happening around town in the arts. When visiting their website however, click on the Art Directory tab for the most complete source of information anywhere on art resources in all of Metropolitan Miami. Truly incredible what you'll find there.
Finally, build up a relationship with the folks in the Wynwood Art District. Get on their mailing list if you can. The Wynward Art District is an Association of art institutions, museums, galleries, collections, studios, and alternative art paces in the Wynwood Area in Miami, Florida, and their main concern is to promote the visual arts that take place in the Wynwood district.
Last but certainly not least, if you were to subscribe to this feed, the writer will keep you abreast on what’s happening in the Miami arts scene from time to time. Furthermore, is FREE!
