August 4, 2013

Fall weddings are becoming increasingly popular. Nature provides a beautiful backdrop of color, and, cooler weather allows for a variety of dress styles, and, of course, you can play with unconventional colors such as orange for bridesmaids dresses or even your bouquet.

One of the more popular trends for 2013 Fall weddings is going vintage. Think old time Hollywood glamor or icons such as Grace Kelly or Princess Catherine (Kate Middleton). Lots of lace and understated elegance.

Popular venues for NYC Fall weddings include The Boathouse in Central Park, The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers, and, Gotham Hall. For more unconventional brides and grooms venues such as The Park (a former taxi garage) and Society of Illustrators have been among the more popular choices.

Your wedding cake is another area where you can incorporate the Fall theme into your special day. Pumpkins, leaves, acorns, and, red, gold, and, orange colors can be wonderful decorating elements on your cake. You are only limited by your imagination and your cake designers talent!

A few things to keep in mind for your Fall wedding. Weather in Autumn in NYC can be unpredictable at best, while outdoor photos are wonderful, play it safe and plan an indoor wedding ceremony and indoor reception. The Fall is a popular time to marry, so, book your church and reception venue well in advance. And, finally, remind yourself to think outside the box. For example, if you never thought of using gold or red or orange for your wedding colors, play with them, try them out. You might find that they complement what you want to do for your wedding day perfectly.

Most importantly - remember to take time to enjoy the day yourself. Congratulations!
