Planet Fitness toned body controversy

When you go to the gym diligently and start seeing results you feel proud of your accomplishment, but a woman who had a run in at Planet Fitness over complaints about her "toned body" left in utter shock.

Tiffany Austin told KTVU that she was working out at a Planet Fitness in Richmond, Calif. on Monday when a staff member approached her and stated they'd had some complaints that she was intimidating people with her "toned body."

To add insult to injury, he then asked her to put on a shirt.

At first Austin agreed, but another staff member then approached her and also told her that her body was too fit to be shown, so Austin asked for a refund for her gym membership and quickly bolted.

On its website, Planet Fitness boasts of its "Judgment Free Zone" where "members can relax, get in shape, and have fun without being subjected to the hard-core, look-at-me attitude that exists in too many gyms."

The site also says Planet Fitness strives to be a place "where everyone feels accepted and respected."

There was plenty of commotion on the company's Facebook page from both sides of the aisle.

One commenter wrote, "I'd like to join but I'm afraid I'm too attractive and I might intimidate some of your members."

Another posted, "No Judgment UNLESS you're in shape, then all rules are out the window! I guess this gym is only for fat people that are whiners.”
