Planet Fitness Cardio Equipment
Planet Fitness - one of the fastest growing gym chains in the U.S., has recently opened Planet Fitness Park West in the Park West Town Center alongside Lowe's and ShopRite in West Philly. The popular health club's brand is based on a low cost, no frills, clean, no nonsense, non-intimidating, stress-free, and comfortable work out environment.
The Planet Fitness philosophy consists of three words: Judgment Free Exercise. At Planet Fitness facilities, there is a higher ratio of cardio equipment compared to resistance and weight training equipment. If you are a hardcore weight lifting, bench press type, or a "show off", look at me type of person, Planet Fitness is not for you.
Planet Fitness does not offer squat racks, group exercise areas, babysitting services, or dumbbells over 70-80 pounds (depending on the facility). Cell phone use on the gym floor is prohibited, along with wearing do-rags, bandannas, skullcaps, boots, and jeans. Swearing, loud grunting, banging dumbbells, dropping weights, and displaying "psyched up" performances are also banned.
Planet Fitness critics complain the rules are too strict. However, members I spoke to have no problem with the gym's code of conduct and appreciate the relaxed, respectful, safe, non-intimidating, and energetic atmosphere.
Member Linda Booker is very pleased with the gym and how it operates. She had this to say about the Park West location, " This place is great! They have a lot of equipment and I never have to wait to use it even though there is a steady flow of people coming and going". Linda also said,"... I usually frequent the gym late afternoons, after work and there are always trainers available asking members if they need assistance and making sure they are using the equipment properly. The main thing is fitness, and I believe the trainers really want to show you how to get the best workout to improve your health."

Sounds like a fun, laid-back place to work out.
I imagine it reduces some of the potential members based on the lack of heavy free weights but that can be a good thing depending on what one is looking for in a gym.
This sounds like the type of gym I would like to use.
