Two planes collided on the tarmac at JFK, according to a March 10 UPI report. Thankfully this fender bender did not cause any injuries to passengers. However, it had to cause a major ordeal for travelers and the airport.
The Air India plane carrying 150 passengers collided with a JetBlue plane heading to West Palm Beach, Fla. on Saturday evening. The Air India plane had just landed, and it was headed to the gate. Passengers on the planes reported that they heard a loud noise, and felt a shudder, but that it was not significant.
This situation ended up being a "minor situation" according to authorities. Officials said,
"At the end of the day, this is a minor situation. There were no injuries and, not too long after that, passengers that were on the plane went on a new flight and were taken out."
Even so, a minor problem can cause major issues for travelers who are trying to make connecting flights and all the things that go along with everything being timed correctly. In fact, the JetBlue passengers had to go through the hassle of deplaning and boarding a new plane before flying on the West Palm Beach, Fla.
Thankfully news that two planes collide on a tarmac is a incredibly unusual. This is not a situation many air travelers have to face.
