On Friday, September 4th, Wizards of the Coast will release Planechase, creating an exciting new casual and multiplayer format.
There will initially be four different Planechase game packs retailing for MSRP of $19.99. They are Metallic Dreams , Strike Force, Elental Thunder and Zombie Empire.
Each contains ten new plane cards, a sixty card deck with eight rares, and a special planar die. Official rules of the new Planar Magic format may be found here.
The cards in the decks are black-bordered and tournament legal in their respective formats, however the plane cards themselves are meant only for casual play.
Every plane card is an oversized Magic card that represents a place within each of the planes within the Magic: The Gathering “multiverse”.
MtgSalvation currently has a full visual spoiler of all the new plane cards.
While Planechase will have a significantly higher print run than From the Vault: Exiled, this release will be limited compared to a normal set. As such it will make a unique addition to each player's collection.
Release events will be held from September 4th to 6th in several of the places to play Magic in Boston.
