You can stay in old town Park City and just get on the city lift right in the middle of town. The locals call this the payday lift. It is easy and it is cheap. You can make a ton of ski runs right near your hotel or condo and then come back to old town for a great lunch at one of the many good restaurants that Park City offers. My personal favorite is Zoom owned by the Sundance Resort. You may run into a movie star eating here. Park City provides a free bus system and trolley system which is clean, efficient, and easy to get around. On day two you can go to the Canyon's Resort for a little snowboarding or skiing. This entails taking the bus to the bottom of the mountain at the Canyon Resort and riding an open air gondola that is large enough for four to six people to the top for a magical day of skiing. We have ridden this gondola at night just to take in the breath taking view off of the Wasatch Mountains Range and to go to dinner at the Canyons which is a fabulous resort.
On your third day, get ready for Deer Valley. Deer Valley has the safest, prettiest and easiest skiing in all of Utah. I am a huge fan of Alta near Salt Lake City but Deer Valley tops Alta to me. Mostly because I am there for the spa and the sleigh rides usually instead of the skiing but the skiing is also great. No Snow boards allowed here. Your teenager may not like this rule but this keeps you very, very safe. Crashes between boarders and skiers are all too common. Deer Valley even has a 35,000 sq ft spa at the Montage Resort. The spa would make a perfect end to a day of skiing. You could get a relaxing massage or facial designed just for winter skin and skiiers. This is an insiders secret but the Sundance Film Festival week is the very best ski week. The slopes are empty. The locals rent out their homes or just leave. So if you are a die hard skiier this is definitely the week for you.
You could stay a month in Park City and not see or do all of what Deer Valley has to offer. There is a lower part of the mountain resort, a mid-mountain village area and a higher more remote area. If you have members of your family that are not avid skiers Park City offers a range of other activities for the non-skier. You can go snow mobiling, gallery hopping, on a sleigh ride, dog sledding, outlet shopping, boutique shopping, to the spa, see museums or just relax.
