Valentine's Day is just around the corner, and many are still trying to think of the perfect evening for their significant other. While most tend to stick to the classic romantic dinner, there are quite a few places around the Columbus area where you can get a little bit more creative this year.

  • Plan a day at the spa. Most salons and spas around Columbus (such as Charles Penzone)offer packages that can cater to both men and women so you can spend a relaxing special day together. Some even offer lunch options so you don't have worry about going out right after. If you aren't able to plan a whole day, just giving a gift card for a day together in the future would brighten their day as well.
  • Take a break from the bland winter weather scenery and visit Inniswood Gardens in Westerville. This nature preserve will give you some beautiful sights to start your day off. After you can take advantage of the the patio and enjoy a picnic lunch or dinner together.
  • Enjoy a wine tasting. Visit Local Wine Events to see a list of various locations offering wine tastings for Valentine's Day.
  • Stay in and make dinner together. Plan a meal with both of your favorites (or get ideas on line) and cook together. Pick up a speciality dessert you both love (like chocolate covered strawberries from Godiva) and pop in a movie and just enjoy each other's company.

Try some of these ideas this year to get a little creativity into your day. Your significant other will appreciate the thought and effort.
