This weekend the Manitou Springs Colorado Wine Festival kicks off a summer filled with opportunities to visit beautiful Colorado towns and swirl a variety of well crafted wines. There are now at least 11 wine festivals happening through summer and into fall. This many is needed to showcase our more than 90 wineries operating in the state. Each makes at least one, often several different wines. These festivals give attendees a chance to taste a representative sample of the range of styles, quality, and varietals of Colorado wine.
There are far flung gatherings and some close to home. Here’s a list to plan your summer:
Manitou Springs Colorado Wine Festival, June 5th
Food & Wine Classic, June 18-20, Aspen
Genuine Jazz & Wine, June 25-27, Copper Mountain
Telluride Wine Fest, June 26-37,
Castle Rock Wine Fest, July 24
The Steamboat Wine Festival, August 5-8
Vino & Notes Wine Festival, August 7, Woodland Park
Bootstraps Western Winefest, August 29, Evergreen
Colorado Mountain Wine Fest, September 16-19, Palisade
Denver International Wine Festival, November 3-7
As the Colorado Wine Industry Development Board so succinctly puts it, plan to attend to “drink in the brilliant sunlight, the fresh mountain air, and the spectacular scenery that makes Colorado wines so special.” Ahhh, make plans to taste Colorado terroir this summer.
A toast to your palate! Cheers!
