"Let's get a pizza!" is what we often say when we would like dinner quickly and easily. Pizza certainly is popular and has been among the most popular of Italian foods for years. Not too many people make pizza at home, but if you would like a pizza that's fresh and has exactly the very things you want on it, then try making your own. The recipe I have for you is one that is homemade and is very easy to do, which is for "Wayne's Pan Pizza".
This is a pizza that lets you decide exactly what all you want on it. The crust starts with packaged biscuit mix and is mixed with water. The dough is patted into a 9x13 inch pan and then you top it with whatever you want to go on it! The ingredients I've listed are the ones that are on the original recipe, but of course, you can change these according to what your preferences. Also, if you prefer a round pizza instead of one that's rectangular shaped, you can always use a traditional round pizza pan.
You'll see that the recipe calls for pizza sauce. I've not seen pizza sauce in the stores for quite a long time, but if you happen to come across it in your area, you can use it here. If not, spaghetti sauce from a jar works very well. You want a thick sauce that will hold the toppings in place and not be too thin when the pizza is cut. Once you make the crust, you top it with the sauce, then follow it with whatever you like to go on a pizza. Any herbs, seasonings or other types of cheese can be used in addition to or in place of the ingredients I've listed in the recipe.
You'll see that the recipe calls for Italian sausage. You can use this or regular breakfast sausage, if you choose. The Italian sausage gives the pizza an added flavor because of the Italian spices, so I like to use it. You can also use ground beef along with it or in place of it, too. Tailor it to the way you like it! While the pizza bakes, put together a tossed salad and this, along with a cold beverage would complete your meal.
For dessert, something cool and refreshing would be very fitting here. Last year, I shared a recipe for an "Amaretto Cake", which is cake is drizzled with Amaretto liquor and layered with ice cream. It's a good and easy make-ahead dessert and if you missed the recipe, here's the link to the article so you can get it:
When you are in the mood for pizza but don't want to go out for it (or you live too far out for it to be delivered to your home), keep this recipe handy for pizza that's homemade and made the way you like it!
