Pizza Heaven Bistro- Now thats amore!

Ooey gooey cheese, fresh sauce, fresh vegetables, and slightly crisp, fluffy dough-all of these are necessities when creating a masterpiece called pizza.  Phoenix is home to its own little bistro that not only delivers these ingredients, but serves them up with a triple helping of straight from the heart love.  Top that off with live music to serenade your intimate dining setting and you have died and gone directly to Pizza Heaven.

Patricia Hasbun opened the doors of Pizza Heaven in 1982.  By 1995, she was the sole owner.  Her food is made fresh daily.  There is no freezer in her kitchen, and no walk in cooler.  She creates all of her own recipes and offers a variety of flavors and textures, including gluten free dough, whole wheat dough, and vegan dishes, that will please any appetite.

One bite of the pizza tells you the pie was just baked on a stone oven.  One of the benefits of cooking with stone is flavor.  The oil cooks into the stone, providing a pizza that has soaked in the nutty flavor of extra virgin olive oil.  Using stone ovens also cooks the pie more evenly and there is less chance of biting into a doughy mess.

Every customer who walks in the door receives a greeting from the proprietor, who appears to be the mom everyone loves in the neighborhood.  If you sneak past her at the door, she will take the time to walk to your table and welcome you to her establishment.  How can she do this you wonder?  Patricia personally knows most of her customers that come in.  Many of them have been coming regularly for the past 20 years.

Friday and Saturday nights the place is hopping with the live music of Patricia's son, Erich Hasbun, and in the fall, Jimmy Lee Boggs will be returning.  Erich plays guitar, and can sing anything!  From Cat Stevens' Wild World to Lonestars' Amazed, his soft, sultry voice reminds briefly of the good ole days when crooners like Ole Blue Eyes were common place in many clubs, and eateries.

Her goal?  "I really take pride in what I do and I want people to feel like they are at home," Patricia stated.  "If its not on the menu, and the ingredients are in my kitchen, we'll make it."

Pizza Heaven Bistro can be found at 5150 North 7th Street, Phoenix, AZ and take out orders can be placed by calling 602-277-8800.  Hours of operation are Mon-Thur 10:30am-10pm, Fri & Sat 10;30am-11pm, and Sunday 3pm-10pm.
