Pittsburgh Weekend Events: Annual Sport Travel and Outdoor Show

The Allegheny Sport, Travel and Outdoor Show kicked-off its 5 day exhibition Wednesday February 15 at the Monroeville Convention Center.  It runs through Sunday February 19 and offers everything hunting, fishing, and outdoor related for Pittsburgh area enthusiasts.   Adult admission is $10.00 (local McDonald’s restaurants are offering discount admission coupons) and children 12 and under get in for free.   The outdoor show’s website, www.sportandtravel.com includes all the event information (or you can call their toll free number at 1-800-600-0307) to plan your trip this weekend.

A partial list of this year’s feature shows include:

The Lady Hoggers

Florida area feral hog hunters, Christie Chreene and Julie Snead offer candid information and first hand experiences about their Lady Hoggers show that is featured on the A&E network.  The lady hunters will be giving presentations and meeting fans throughout the weekend.

One Sharp Marriage

Expert knife throwing couple Mike and Rosa Gross will be performing their jaw dropping stunts and tricks with a variety of razor sharps tools, including crossbows, tomahawks, and knives.  Kids and adults alike will enjoy their award winning demonstrations.

The Snake Pit

An annual staple event at the Sport and Travel show is the snake pit.  The snake pit offers viewers a bone chillingly close encounter with hundreds of venomous snakes.  The venomous rattlesnakes and vipers exhibit is not for the ophidiophobic (fear of snakes), but for everyone else it is a must see.

Representatives from the PA Fish and Boat Commission, PA Game Commission (PCG), and The Safari Club, will be on hand for informative demonstrations and to answer public questions as well.  Pittsburgh Post-Gazette outdoor columnist John Hayes will also be in attendance to greet the public Friday 6-8 p.m. and Saturday noon to 5 p.m.  He will also be conducting an in depth discussion of the state’s controversial antler restriction policies along with PGC representatives.

The Sport, Travel and Outdoor show’s hours of operation this weekend are:

Friday noon to 9 p.m.

Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Sunday   10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
