Owners of barking dogs can take heart knowing that the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra needs four barking dogs for a June concert, according to an article published yesterday by the Times Online.

The Concert, scheduled for June 9th at Point State Park, will featured the lucky dogs in a solo with the horns in the performance of "Jadg-Sinfonie" by Leopold Mozart.

Dogs must be able to show that they have mastered four tasks:

  • sit on command
  • stay on command
  • bark on command
  • silence on command

The Pittsburgh Symphony is invited applicants to apply online. Applicants will need to submit a video showing that the dog can perform all four of these commands.

They will continue to accept applications with videos through April 15th. Those who are selected for the final audition will be notified by email by April 30th, and the final auditions will be held live on May 13th.

The concert is expected to be a howling success.
