Pittsburgh sports bars concerns of N.F.L. lockout

Pittsburgh known for its die hard sports fans but little is known about how small businesses like retail and bar/restaurants will be affected by the N.F.L lockout imposed on march 12, 2011. almost the entire North Shore of Pittsburgh make most of its yearly income during the N.F.L. season. Not to mention the men and women trying to support their families in an already depressed time are now forced to look for other means of employment.cashiers, warehouse laborer, bartenders, parking lot attendants just to name a few will all be greatly effected.

What about the revenue that will be lost due to a lockout. If you look at the Pittsburgh Steelers last three playoff games and the super bowl, the revenue is 45.6 million dollars. That is a huge hit to Pittsburgh that relies on the N.F.L. season to bring in money for the city. The sports bars in and around Pittsburgh will lose its key customers with out Steeler football. The small bar business owner loses money and in turn will be inability to hire more employees or even keep the employees that they already have. The bar/restaurant owners and employees are looking at a bleak yr without N.F.L. football. In a town with not a whole lot to look forward to the Pittsburgh Steelers keep them going spiritually and financially.

With bar/restaurants already struggling with the PA drink tax,No smoking policies it is becoming difficult to maintain customers or add to their customer base. Now with this lockout bar/restaurant that cater to the sports fan will need to be very creative with what looks to be a slim fiscal year for business. I think you will see a huge push for baseball fans by the bar/restaurant owners in an attempted to secure some type of  customer base, to of set the loss of football fans. I believe you will also see huge price reduction during the weekends to bring in business and a price increase during weekdays.

The state of bar/restaurants in Pittsburgh and other football towns Green Bay,New England,Baltimore will see huge reductions in its revenue for their respected cities. With a already struggling economy a work stoppage with one of the biggest businesses in America is just bad for business. With most owners in the league making millions its a wounder why we put up with such greed when its our families and fans that will pay the most. Not because we are not being entertained but because families relie on the income that an N.F.L season brings in.
