The Skating Club of Greater Youngstown is hosting its annual All American Challenge Cup competition this weekend at the Covelli Centre in Youngstown, Ohio. More than 190 events are on the schedule for this Ice Skating Institute (ISI)-endorsed competition that is expected to draw more than 195 competitors from 16 rinks located throughout Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Of the nearly 200 competitors, 57 will be representing local ice ISI rinks, including the North Park Ice Skating Rink, the Robert Morris University Island Sports Center, Center Ice Arena, Greensburg, South Park Ice Skating Rink, Kirk S. Nevin Ice Arena and the Ice Connection of Pittsburgh. These skaters will compete in a variety of skating events, including stroking, footwork, spotlight, artistic, freestyle 1-10, dance, jump and spin, open freestyle and interpretative.
Events will run from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 8:45 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Covelli Centre located at 229 E. Front Street in downtown Youngstown. Admission to the competition is free.
The 2013 All American Challenge Cup is a part of the ISI District 7 Championship Series.
