The Colorado Music Business (a.k.a. COMBO), a nonprofit that provides education and support for local bands, is holding its first ever music expo this Sunday at Red & Jerry's (Santa Fe & Oxford, in Englewood). The expo starts at 10AM, runs till 5PM and is free to attend.
The expo will include over 40 exhibitors (recording studios, guitar techs, band merch, radio stations, booking agencies, music associations and music instruction), free seminars from some industry veterans and the Car Toys outdoor stage. There will also be several door prizes (amp repair, to radio promotion, and even several hotel packages).
Hazel Miller will be presenting a seminar on “How to Make Your Living Playing Music." Another seminar is called: Pitch a Hit! Bring your CD, marked with the song [sticky note] that you think would sell a million "if only someone heard it!" All CDs will be drawn from "the pot" and a panel of expert judges will listen to a minute or so of your song and give you their opinion of whether it will "Make It or Break It."
They suggest that you bring 4 lyric sheets to accompany the song. CDs will be accepted all day and must be picked up by 5:00 p.m. The "Pitch a Hit" session(s) will start at 4:00 p.m. If there is enough interest, COMBO may run more than one. Their judges are people "who have actually had Gold Records to their names."
Meanwhile, the Car Toys outdoor stage will be happening all day long. The acts were picked at random from a COMBO hat and the schedule is:
1. 10:00 a.m. - 10:40 a.m. - 9's a Pair
