The two pit bulls that entered a neighbor's home in the Reno, Nev. suburb of Spanish Springs on Friday, through a "doggy door" were known to have been on the loose before, reported the ktvn.com after a homeowner's dogs were killed on Reiger Springs Drive.
The tragic story of the afternoon attack killed a woman's black Labrador retriever, a Shih Tzu, and a Pekingese. When the owner came in, she was shocked as she followed the trail of blood.
The two dogs were in the woman's home standing over the dead Labrador when she returned.
According to the Washoe County Animal Services, the dogs had broken through a neighbor's fence and entered the home. Barry Brode, Director of Washoe County Animal Services stated the dogs have been seized and if a judge deems them dangerous, the dogs could be ordered euthanized.
Neighbors reported this was not the first time the dogs had been running loose. One neighbor stated the two pitties were very friendly, while another neighbor disagreed.
"Those two dogs might be sentenced to death because of their owner's irresponsibility," stated Katy Winslow of Los Angeles. "If a dog escapes from their yard, and there's any possibilities they could hurt a person or another animal, then the owner better darn well do what is expected and figure out how to keep the neighborhood and the dogs safe. It's just another tragic story of a lousy owner which caused the death this time of three beautiful dogs."
