Pit bulls attack and kill horse

Bill Williamson has an empty pasture today after his beloved horse, "Joker" was killed by his neighbor's pit bulls.

According to a report by the Charlotte Observer today, this was the second time that Joker was attacked by pit bulls. Michael Roberts, a neighbor of Mr. Williamson, has owned two different sets of pit bulls.

The first set attacked Joker two years ago and when Mr. Williamson attempted to fend them off of his horse, he nearly suffered a fatal heart attack. Mr. Roberts gave up those pit bulls and they were euthanized.

Wednesday, Joker was again attacked by two more pit bulls who were biting at the back of Joker's legs. Nino Abdic, a neighbor of Mr. Williamson, tried to stop the attack by throwing rocks and sticks to scare off the dogs. When the dogs ran off, it was too late. Joker was dead.

Mint Hill Police are still looking for the runaway pit bulls. Please call them at 704-847-5555 or Mecklenburg Animal Control at 311 if you see the dogs out and about.

Mr. Williamson is having a difficult time with the loss of Joker, but states that "I don't have to worry about her anymore. Those dogs settled that."
