A pit bull saves a family from a fire in Lincoln County, Oklahoma. On Feb. 14, ABC 30 reported that "Baby," a 10-year-old dog, saved two sisters when a fire broke out in their home. The dog was alerted by the smoke and flames and ran in to the bedroom to wake up Rhonda Westenberger and her sister. The dog barked and pounded on the women until they woke up -- and escaped in mere seconds.
"I went back and there were flames shooting down the hallway. If baby hadn't woken Evelyn up, I don't think either one of us would have come out of this," said Rhonda.
The pit bull saved the family from the fire also saved the family's other dogs. According to another family member, Baby went under a bed and grabbed one of the dog's by the neck and dragged him outside.
Although the family's home and all of their belongings were lost in the fire, they are so happy and blessed to have each other. As many people say, things can be replaced but people can't. Baby did a great job saving her family and they are so thankful. "I'm so proud of her. She is my hero. She's the hero for all of us," Rhonda said.
The pit bull that saved the family from the house fire is undoubtedly a hero.
