Pit Bull puppy tossed from truck now safe in rescue (Photos)

On Saturday, a four-month old Pit Bull puppy was thrown from a truck bed in downtown Sacramento near 19th and J Street. The puppy got caught beneath the vehicle. Bystanders ran to the truck and caught the attention of the driver. One bystander freed the puppy from the chain. Another bystander took the puppy home after the driver left the scene.

Yesterday, the bystander who saved the puppy gave the puppy to Chako Pit Bull Rescue. The puppy suffered minor injuries to his rear leg and mouth but is expected to make a full recovery. He will be available for adoption from Chako Pit Bull Rescue after his injuries have resolved.

Witnesses described the vehicle as a white truck with a large silver toolbox and black bars. Its license plate number is either 8T31508 or 8T31S08. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact Chako Pit Bull Rescue at dogs@chako.org or the City of Sacramento Front Street Shelter.
