According to Tuesday's News 9, one family's pit bull is credited with alerting them to a dangerous fire inside of their Edmond, Okla., home.
As fire and smoke spread throughout the house on Deer Park Drive, the residents inside continued to slumber, despite the ringing alarm from home's smoke detectors.
The family dog, a pit bull named "Diesel," decided to take matters into his own hands, or rather his own paws, and jumped onto his sleeping guardians' bed.
Diesel's actions were out of character - he is not allowed on the bed - but they were sufficient to wake his family members, who were then able to escape from the house unharmed.
According to the Edmond Sun, the fire is believed to have originated from the family's Christmas tree, which had fallen onto a piece of furniture; the lights on the tree had been left on during the night.
Diesel is being hailed a hero for his actions on Monday - in fact, the fire department is looking for a way to honor the faithful and determined dog for his good deed.
