Pistol Annies’ Angaleena Presley moves on without band

Angaleena Presley, the sole brunette in the Pistol Annies band, isn’t waiting for her bandmates any longer. Despite a strong start to their all-girl band in 2011, Pistol Annies hasn’t performed together in quite some time. Now it looks as though the band members are heading in different directions.

According to a CMT report on Thursday, Angaleena Presley will release her first solo album this fall. The album will be produced by Slate Creek Records, the same label that Brandy Clark is signed to. Angaleena Presley stated that she knew exactly how she wanted her first album to sound and Slate Creek Records was the perfect fit because they understood where she wanted to go creatively.

It’s expected that Angaleena Presley’s solo album will be quite different from her work with Pistol Annies, whose disappearance from country music almost as quickly as they arrived, still hasn’t quite been explained to fans’ satisfaction. The fiery all-girl band suddenly canceled concerts in June of 2013, later stating that they simply hadn’t had time to rehearse and didn’t want to give less than a perfect performance. However, almost one year later, the Pistol Annies still haven’t made finding that rehearsal time a priority, leading to much speculation about the end of the band.

In a January 2014 interview with The Boot, band member Ashley Monroe denied a Pistol Annies break up, but so far, the Annies seem to still be on separate paths. Angaleena Presley’s path has led her to the recording studio on her own, a path Ashley Monroe already followed last year. Miranda Lambert, of course, continues to top the charts and rack up awards in her already successful solo career.

Aside from the Pistol Annies recent collaboration on Blake Shelton’s “Boys ‘Round Here”, Angaleena Presley has had some prior recording time. She was featured on Kid Rock’s song “Care” in 2012 and on JB and the Moonshine Band’s re-release of “Black and White” in 2013. The band debuted the song on Radio Texas, LIVE! in October, just before Angaleena Presley was scheduled to head out on tour with the band.

As shown in both of her duets, Angaleena Presley has the ability to display a depth of emotion in her vocals as well as the sassy side she sports in Pistol Annies. Perhaps her solo album will contain a mixture of her talents. If so, the album should be a huge success.
