Pirates near Nigeria kidnapped two Americans off a oil platform supply vessel, and so far the hostages remain missing. While there were several on board the vessel at the time, reportedly only the captain and chief engineer were kidnapped. Fox News shared the latest information on Oct. 25.
The pirates attacked off the coast of Nigeria on Wednesday, kidnapping the two men. The Nigerian navy is working on finding the two men, and of course many on the American side are monitoring and investigating as well. So far little to nothing has been revealed about where the two Americans may be, or what the kidnapers want.
According to CNN the ship itself is in port now, but the location has not been disclosed. An official from the U.S. indicated there had been 11 people on the ship prior to the Nigerian pirate attack. Pirate attacks have become increasingly common and dangerous in the are of the Gulf of Guinea, as pirates often kidnap people from ships for ransom, or target cargo they believe holds value for them. It is not clear in this case if ransom is involved, or whether the kidnapped men have been taken onto land.
People are hoping for a successful recovery of the two Americans held by the pirates near or in Nigeria, but so far few details are being released as those close to the investigation try to uncover new information.
