Pirates of the Caribbean 5 is changing course yet again. In a new report from Walt Disney confirms that the upcoming fifth installment of Pirates will be hitting theaters on July 7, 2017. Originally, the swash buckling adventure was suppose to hitting theaters in 2016, but it seems that the studio has had a change of heart on that idea. The movie was also had the subtitle Dead Men Tell No Tales seems to be missing that as well (though that could be a misconception). In any case, the date for Pirates 5 has changed yet again, so fans are going to have wait a little longer for the next high sail adventure.
So what does this mean for Disney? There was a time where Pirates of the Caribbean was among Disney's more profitable franchises. Now though, thanks to The Lone Ranger flopping, it seems that the studio has lost faith in Bruckheimer Films and the Pirates? Fortunately, Disney will not suffer from this move as they might have if this problems arose a few years ago. The reason for this is Disney's association with Marvel Studios and Lucasfilms. Thanks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's success and just having the rights to Star Wars, Disney will not have to worry about the box office. Then again, with movies like Frozen, Disney has another guarantee to remain relevant in the box office. It seems that the movie world has changed and Pirates is having hard time keeping its sails moving.
Things might seem bad for the next Pirates film, but there is always hope the series can live on. Though the date has change, the film will still be still be directed by Kon-Tiki's Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg. Plus, though the plot is still unknown, you can expect to see Johnny Depp once again take up the role of Captain Jack Sparrow. So while things are uncertain, there is still a chance that Pirates of the Caribbean will once again take to the sea and bring moviegoers another big time adventure. The only for knowing for sure is to stay tune for more on the next Pirates film.
