Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is the official title of the next Pirates movie, starring Johnny Depp. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is set to begin filming in Spring 2010.
Fans have created an internet buzz on this over the past few days because Rob Marshall just stated that he will direct the movie and fans couldn’t be more excited. Marshall said that he is excited to work with Johnny Depp. Although it has been rumored that Marshall would direct since last summer, Marshall made the announcement himself this week (see video below).
Johnny Depp was hesitant to sign on to another Pirates movie, but the Disney studio was determined to get him and made a minimum offer of $33.6 million with additional cash incentives from ticket sales. The first three Pirates movies generated more than $2.5 billion at the box office. All of this is pending of course, on the script and Depp has yet to see it.
