As I was strong-arming my way through the tourist maze on Hollywood Boulevard yesterday, I came upon comedy duo Piper and Tupper. I think I did, anyway. I could have been hallucinating or simply having a panic attack from all that Hollywood and Highland over-stimulation. There were stars on the ground, hard-sell movie characters on the street, billboards and helicopters over head, a movie premier (of Disney's earth) across the way, and of course roaming and assertive rap musicians, over-heated sidewalk magicians, camera-happy travelaticians, and more.
But, I do have reason to believe, despite everything, that I actually did come face to face with hippy and hilarious (the hippy part is a parody) Piper and Tupper. There is evidence, anyway, in the form of a business card in my purse and the imprinted vision on my brain of a guy who looked a lot like Paul Simon meets Martin Short meets the new White House pup Bo (with a smattering of a shave).
See for yourself. Above is their business card, and below is a video of their snappy rap about “crap”.
Piper and Tupper perform this Wed. at 10PM at the Laugh Factory. For their full schedule, visit their MySpace page.
