Pinterest weddings are nothing new, but when a guy highjacks his girlfriend’s pinterest account to plan a surprise wedding, it is newsworthy. According to an Oct. 4 KMSP TV news report, one very smart man has given his girlfriend the surprise of a lifetime.
Ryan Leak used his girlfriend Amanda Roman’s own wedding planning details on her pinterest board to surprise her with a fabulous wedding. Leak perused over 200 “dream wedding” pins on Roman’s board to capture exactly what she wanted without her knowledge. After planning the couple’s big day, he proposed to her and led her into a hotel ballroom where wedding guests watched in awe as the two said their vows.
Leak is not only creative, but he also pays attention to detail. The groom explained that he chose to propose and wed on the same day because he overheard his surprised bride exclaim two years earlier that this was indeed her “dream.”
One best friend of the groom, Phil Johnson, who attended the wedding, aptly noted that “Anyone that watches this and they have yet to get married are going to go watch that and go, 'Oh shoot, the bar just went way up,” with the emphasis on “Way up.”
Another friend, Nate Ruch, a senior pastor at Emmanuel Christian Center in Spring Lake Park officiated the couple’s wedding. “There was just this sense of ‘it's going to work out,’” Ruch said. “We all received e-mails with orders of what was going to happen a number of months out so we could buy plane tickets and be prepared.” And if the point was not clear enough, Ruch joked, “He made every guy look bad in the history of the world.”
As for the bride, Fox 8 WGHP news reports that she was beyond happy. “The day was even better than how I would have planned it,” she said. “Realistically I never thought that I would be able to pull off some of the things I saw on Pinterest, but Ryan is a risk-taker and he didn’t settle for my watered-down version of my ‘dream wedding’ — he went for the gusto.” And Leak’s final comments should set the tone for other guys looking to plan their dream day. “She planned the entire wedding, without even knowing she planned the entire wedding,” he said in the enclosed video.
