Pinterest launches Web analytics feature

The Pinterest team announced the rolling out of a long-awaited new feature on Tuesday.

Pinterest Web Analytics gives you insights into the kind of activity the content of your website generates on the visual social network. The tool shows you how many people have pinned or repinned your pictures and videos, the number of impressions, clicks and visits, as well as a selection of your most viral and recent pins.

Web Analytics is only available to users with business accounts. So, the first step is to establish ownership of your profile. Follow instructions at http://business.pinterest.com/verify.

Upon completion of the verification process, a check mark will appear next to your website on your Pinterest profile.

The next step is to get an early access to Pinterest’s new look. Mouse over your name in the top right menu and click the “Switch to the New Look” tab. The new design should load right away. Visit your top right area and click your name again. Analytics will be located right under the “Add a Pin” tab.

“Today’s announcement builds on the set of tools we offer for website owners including business accounts, Pin It buttons and board widgets,” says software engineer Tao Tao, on the Pinterest Blog. “We think that these tools will help website owners understand what’s working for them and what’s not so that they can create even better pins in the future. We even updated our business site with new tips and case studies to make things easier.”
