Have you heard the term "pinterest?" Has someone asked you if you've "pinned" anything lately? Are you confused, thinking people are saying the wrong word? Have you asked people what are they talking about?
These are several questions I have had over the last few months regarding Pinterest. Pinterest is a word, another new word to add to your vocabulary much like we've added Facebook or Twitter.
When you visit Pinterest.com, you are entering a brand new world full of hundreds of thousands of pictures. From Pinterest's website, "Pinterest is a virtual pinboard. Pinterest allows you to organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. You can browse boards created by other people to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests. People use boards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and share their favorite recipes."
I took a bite not long ago and created an account for myself. I mainly did this because someone wanted to show me all the different outfits they thought looked really cool and unique. So I jumped on this Pinterest bandwagon. I didn't jump on too fast, just fast enough to keep up. Now I feel like I'm a million miles behind.
As stated on their website, Pinterest is a virtual pinboard. I finally figured out what I want to use it for. I want a general place to put the things I like or want to remember. Sure, we all have bookmarks, but some people aren't anal like me and have all her bookmarks in categories to find easily. It's easy to hit a button and have a bookmark, but do we ever look at those again? I don't. But Pinterest lets you "grab that bookmark" but you get to divide them into categories - it makes you! And the bookmarks have a picture! Awesome!
The website is pretty easy to use. Let's say you find a really cool crochet pattern. All you do is copy the web address, go to Pinterest, add a pin, paste the web address and boom! The pin is there! Some websites now have a button where all you have to do is click the button and the website is pinned.
You can also follow other people much like Twitter or Facebook and if you like their pin, press the heart button or you can repin it to one of your boards to have it there. That's what I did the other night. I repinned a bunch of things which I thought were cool and they are things I can save for later.
If you have been afraid of Pinterest before now, don't be afraid. It can be addicting so be careful! But if you are like me and get board of doing the same thing over and over again, then you won't have any problems! If you'd like to follow me, check out my boards!
