A small dog somehow survived a big fall from an bridge in Salem, Ore., according to Wednesday's King 5 News.
The dog, described as a toy fox terrier, toppled an impressive 20 to 25 feet from the Liberty Street Bridge on Monday.
Prior to the daredevil leap, the little dog was dodging in and out of traffic and causing quite a distraction for drivers in the area.
Firefighters who were nearby and trying to help witnessed the dog jump over the side of the bridge and they rushed to find him.
The dog not only survived the fall, but managed to get up and run.
A firefighter with the Salem Fire Department stated:
“He tried running a little bit. I think he was in shock,”
“So we just split up, he hid in some bushes and we were able to get him.”
Blackberry bushes on the embankment are believed to be responsible for sparing the tiny pooch from certain death.
After being rescued, the dog was taken to the Marion County Animal Shelter, where it is hoped that his owner will find him.
