Last year at this time the San Francisco Giants were tied up and prepared to achieve the unachievable and the St. Louis Cardinals appeared to be ready to go home. What a difference a year makes! Well, at least there is one constant, Healdsburg is prepared to host Sonoma County's favorite Pinot Noir Festival, the Pinot Noir World Series - Pinot on the River on Sunday, October 27th from 10am - 4pm!
About 100 of the best West Coast, limited production, Pinot Noir producers gather on a, typically, glorious Autumn Sunday to compare notes. With the lingering smells of crush in the air and the residual activities of pickers in the vineyards continuing in the surrounding environs of the Wine Road (Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley and Russian River Valley), hundreds of Pinot Noir aficionado's congregate to see, swirl, smell, sip and spit (of course you spit with 100 wineries and even more tastes)!
Artisanal wineries are the norm at this event. Limited release and very small, this is, perhaps, the only event where you will find wines from the Santa Cruz Mountains, Santa Lucia Highlands, Sonoma Coast, Russian River, Anderson Valley as well as other west coast American Viticultural Area (AVAs) in the same venue. Some favorites will include: Benovia, Black Kite, Bruliam, Failla, Foursight, Littorai, MacPhail, Masut, Papapietro Perry, Patz & Hall, Sidori, Simi, Small Vines, Trione and Wrath.
Tickets can be obtained at http://pinotfestival.com/registration.html and run $75 in advance ($85 for early entry) and$100 at the gate (if available) and benefit the The Central Sonoma County Boys and Girls Clubs. This is truly a Wine Country Fall Classic!
