Pink will pack the rink at the XL Center this weekend

The Hartford Wolf Pack are set up for two great home matchups this weekend after winning four of their last six games. Most recently the Wolf Pack defeated the Phantoms of Adirondack in a home and home series. The Pack won in Glens Falls 6-3 behind the play of J. T. Miller who had a hat trick of assists and then beat them again at home last Wednesday 5-2 behind sniper Danny Kristo who scored two big goals to secure the win. Outscoring your opponent 11-5 over two games is a great way to build some confidence as the team heads into the final stretch of the season.

This will be the biggest hockey weekend for the Wolf Pack brand so far this season. Tonight the Providence Bruins come to Hartford to take on the Pack. Providence is the team that the Pack beat in the seventh game of overtime in the 2000 Eastern Conference Finals in one of Hartford hockey’s most memorable games. The Pack went on to win their first Championship in Hartford after that game.

The Bruins are still popular in Hartford. Just like in the Hartford Whaler days, the crowd is split between people rooting for the home team and those that grew up loving the Black and Gold of Boston. There is always a great crowd on hand to see this matchup.

On Saturday night there will be an even a larger crowd as the Pack will play division rival the Albany Devils on “Pink in the Rink” night at the XL Center. The Pack will wear jerseys with pink added as a a secondary color. The pink signifies Breast Cancer Awareness. There will be a jersey auction for the teams jerseys in the XL Center Atrium during an intermission of play. Management within the XL Center has said that they expect a very good crowd for the evening. Tickets are being sold in the upper bowl for the first time this season and a five digit crowd is very possible.

In all you can expect to see anywhere from 13,00-16,000 hockey fans watching these two games on Friday and Saturday night. You can still get your tickets now by contacting the Hartford Wolf Pack at the Public Power ticket office located within the XL Center’s atrium or by phone at (877) 522-8499.

Come down and show your support for cancer research while you root for a home team win.
