The United Airlines flight 1603 was diverted to Boise Idaho after the pilot suffered a heart attack on a flight that departed from Houston, Texas. The Boeing 737 was headed to Seattle.
According to an airline spokesperson, Patti Miller, the flight was diverted around 8 p.m. MT to Boise. Paramedics boarded the plane to attend to the pilot and transport him to a nearby hospital.
The passengers waited at the Boise airport as United Airlines flew another pilot in from San Francisco to finish out the flight. The passengers were delayed for several hours.
The pilot’s name was not released as of yet, until his family has all been notified of his death. According to Fox News live on Friday morning, United Airlines released a statement confirming that it was a pilot who had a heart attack on Thursday during Flight 1603, not a crew member. There was some confusion yesterday on whether it was a pilot or crew member who suffered a heart attack.
United Airlines also expressed their sadness over the pilot's passing and conveyed that they could not release his name due to their employee policies.
