Pilates tip of the day: Roll up series: Advanced Roll Up

This is the final in the Roll up series.  By now you should have mastered the roll down, roll up, and found some great ways to sculpt your arms.

Advanced Roll Up: Follow the directions for the “Ideal Roll Up” but instead of reaching your hands towards yours feet as you roll keep your arms right along your ears. This will extend your upper body, creating a longer lever for your abdominals to move. Consciously work to keep your arms right alongside your ears and your shoulders down and back.  When you begin to roll back, pull your abs in and keep your back straight for as long as you can.  When you no longer can keep your back straight (you will begin to feel your low back arching) tuck your tail bone under and roll down.  Begin with just 3 of these with perfect form and work up to 5-8.
