Each week during the high school sports season the High School Sports Examiner and the Eastern Maine Sports Blog will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations to Marc at firstname.lastname@example.org.
When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination.
2013 Fall season- Week 7- October 14th- October 20th
Pilar Elias- Waterville- soccer- Scored seven goals in 10-0 victory over MCI. Had two goals and one assist in 4-1 victory over Camden Hills.
Elias has led the Purple Panthers to a 13-0 record. The junior has scored 39 goals this season.
Waterville will finish their regular season on Tuesday with a home game against Oceanside.
Elias is the first student/athlete from Waterville to capture AOW.
Brianna Skolfield- Foxcroft- field hockey- Recorded four saves in 1-0 overtime victory over Old Town. Skolfield did not allow any goals during the regular season. Foxcroft head into the playoffs with a 13-0-1 record and the number one seed in class C.
Sherraiah Grace- Orono- field hockey- Scored two goals in 4-0 victory over Stearns.
Amber Anderson- Foxcroft- field hockey- Scored in overtime in 1-0 victory over Old Town.
Olivia Lewis- Schenck- soccer- Recorded a hat trick and had two assists in 7-0 win over Katahdin.
Sigilia Pinkham- Central- soccer- Scored two goals in 2-0 victory over Bucksport. Scored the game winning goal and had one assist in 3-2 win over PCHS.
