The Gwinnett Gladiators announced on Wednesday that the club had reached agreement with Forward Casey Pierro-Zabotel for the coming season. It will be his third season with Gwinnett, sixth overall in the ECHL.

Pierro-Zabotel joined Gwinnett in mid-January last season and had seven lamplighters and 21 assists in 36 games. The British Columbia native led the Gladiators during the 2012-2013 campaign in both goals (22) and points (75), as well as posting a team high +19.

"Besides what he brings with his playing ability, we're going to depend on Zabbo's leadership to flourish this season," said Gwinnett President Steve Champman. He continued, “We’re really expecting big things.”

Over the course of his ECHL career, Pierro-Zabotel has 67 goals, 166 assists, and 233 points in 289 games with five teams. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the third round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft as the 80th overall selection.

Pierro-Zabotel has also played 14 games at the next level with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL.

The Gladiators open the 2014-2015 home schedule at The Arena at Gwinnett Center on Friday, October 24th, and will also play at the Arena on Saturday, October 24th.

Ticket Information

The Gladiators are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and are affiliated with the Arizona Coyotes of the NHL. All home games are played at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
