The Pierce College women’s soccer team showed good offensive depth in its 3-0 win against El Camino on Tuesday in the second round of the CCCAA South Regional Playoffs at the Pierce Pit.

The Brahmas extended their undefeated streak and improved their record to 21-0-2.

Pierce goalkeeper Marissa Graska made three saves and tallied another shutout, making it 16 for the season. Graska credits her team’s “solid defense” and said she believes her team can keep winning.

“We can go all the way,” Graska said. “We definitely have a great shot at winning the state championship.”

The Brahmas took a 1-0 lead in the 44th minute of play with a goal by Daisy Alvarenga. Just two minutes into the second half, Briana Behrad scored her 19th goal of the season to extend the Brahmas lead to 2-0. Jessica Gonzalez sent a free kick into the upper right corner for a 3-0 lead in the 74th minute of play.

Alvarenga’s goal was her seventh of the season and she also tallied an assist in the game.

“It was a really exciting game to play and I just wanted to score a goal,” Alvarenga said.

El Camino (13-7-3) was seeded ninth in the playoffs after tying for third place in the South Coast Conference.

Pierce (21-0-2) advances to the third round of the playoffs and will host fourth-seeded Cerritos (21-1-2) on Saturday, Nov. 27 at 2 pm. With a win, the Brahmas will advance to the semifinals of the state championship, to be played on Dec. 3 at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita.
