The Annual Pier House 5K was held on Labor Day, Monday September 5, 2011 in Long Branch, NJ.
The morning started out overcast and a bit on the cool side but quickly warmed up when the sun came out and warmed up for the 8:30 AM start.

Runners lined up on the North End of the Long Branch Promenade for the start. Dawn Ciccone of the Jersey Shore Running Club sang the National Anthem before she lined up with the rest of the 600 plus participants. Race Dierctor Phil Hinck gave ruinners their final instruicions and then gave the order to take off down the Promendae heading south. From their they passed the Great Lawn and Pier Village and then onto Ocean Avenue before returning back onto the Promenade and a finsh in front of the Great Lawn.
The overall winner was Rob Cavenugh of West Long Branch 15:41 followed by Tim Mulligan of Whiting in 15:45 and Craig Segal of Highlands in 15:47.
For the women it was Amanda Marino of Jackson, NJ in 17:16 followed by Noel Whitall of Toms River in 17:22 and Marissa Alberti of Long Branch in 18:19.
Clarence Lurch age 90 also participated in the race and finished first in his age group.
After the 5K there were kid’s races of various distances on the Great Lawn. Awards were then presented to overall and age group winners by Tim McLoone proprietor of the Pier House located in Pier Village.
The event benefitted CPC Health Services.
After the awards many of the participants headed over to the Pier House for a post-race party..
The race marked the culmination of the Jersey shore Grand Prix of races which also included Spring lake, Belmar, Sheehan and Asbury Park.
For the men the top series winner was Roberty Cavenaugh of West Long Branch followed by Craig Segal of highlands and Patrick D’Allesandro of Asbury Park, Tim Ragan of Brick, Reinaldo Reyes of maple Shade .
For the women it was Marissa Alberti of Long Branch followed by Dactilla Booth of Long Branch, Lisa Namath of Wall, Sara Amitrani of Red Bank and Kathy Kropke of Avon and Noel Whitall of Toms River .
