Pictures after the snow flies in Reno

See also

Typical Reno snow storms don't last long, though there are exceptions. Usually, however, it will snow and then be sunny the next day. I have found that it's on those next days when some of the best winter picture opportunities present themselves.

If you get out fairly early after a snowy night, you'll find some beautiful white cityscapes right in town. There are even fun and goofy shots to be had, like the one with this article. Venture out just a little way to find untracked landscapes worth your picture taking time. Once the snow starts to melt, and if it then gets cold enough, look around for fantasies in ice. I have some bushes in my yard that grow some phenomenal icicles. The fountain in front of Reno's Whole Foods Market makes a beautiful ice sculpture under frigid conditions.

Never leave home without checking the weather forecast and highway conditions. Even if the sun is out, it's winter in the Reno area and things can change quickly.
