Pico’s, the well-loved Mexican spot on Bellaire between Chimney Rock and Hillcroft, will remain open for about another five weeks before making the move back to the Upper Kirby District, at least according to the hostess I just talked to. She did not know when the new location on Kirby and Richmond will open, but maybe immediately, or soon after the original location shutters. The new building is the one that was long occupied by one of the underwhelming Ninfa’s that was not on Navigation. Then it was briefly the easily forgotten Maggie Rita’s, I think.
Back to the Upper Kirby District? Pico’s had a second location near the intersection of Kirby and the Southwest Freeway where amazingly popular Twin Peaks now perkily sits. It had a several-year run, but never seemed as good as the original Bellaire restaurant. I hope that it has much better luck the second time around in the Upper Kirby District. It should.
