'Pickup Man' Diffie packs the house at Juanita's

Pouring rain did not seem to interfere with concert fans going to see Joe Diffie at Juanita's in Little Rock, Saturday night. In fact, the "Pickup Man" singer packed the house, called the Hogs and predicted that the Denver Broncos will win the Super Bowl by three.

Diffie said this was his second time to pay Juanita's. He said he is from Oklahoma, where if you look at the license plate, "we are just OK."

"Third Rock From The Sun" was the show starter for Diffie and his band. He even customized it, adding "Juanita's" to the lyrics.

Early on, Diffie asked his fans to "call the Hogs." He got a huge response and then continued with his set list.

The ladies were treated to his slow song "So Help Me Girl" and then he dedicated "Pickup Man" to the guys.

Diffie said "Home" was his first big number one song and the crowd loved when he performed it. He said the best thing about that song was that the next six ones after it all went to number one.

Diffie has added many new fans lately, thanks to Jason Aldean's "1994," which saluted Diffie and all his songs. Diffie and his band satisfied the crowd by adding it to their list.

Tyler Farr and Brett Eldridge are two new country artists that Diffie said he is working with, along with the Jawga Boyz. He said since D Thrash from that group was not here tonight, he would have to do the rap part for him. He said the song "Girl Ridin' Shotgun" has gotten two million hits on youtube.

Diffie paid tribute to country legend Charlie Rich by performing "Behind Cosed Doors." He also said George Jones was his biggest hero and proceeded to perform "He Stopped Loving Her Today."

"My Give A Damn's Busted," which a lot of people associate with Jo Dee Messina, was actually written by Diffie along with Tom Shapiro and Tony Martin. It was on his "In Another World" album. Diffie said he told the record label folks it was a number one song. He said he still goes to the mailbox to get a check for it.

Diffie and his band saluted the troops, by asking the veterans to raise their hands. He dedicated "Ships" to them, saying he recently had a man who served six tours in Afghanistan thank him for that song.

Diffie encored with "Bigger Than The Beatles."
