Have you ever heard of Pickleball? Talk about having fun exercising!! This game is a cross between tennis and ping pong. You can play for free at Fonde Recreation Center on Sabine and Memorial Drive near downtown. The courts are indoors so, no mater what the weather is you can play in the cool air conditioning. The playing times are Saturday from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM, and 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesdays. Fonde is the site of Houston Senior Games pickleball tournament and the 2010 and 2011 Texas State Games tournament and has "Friendly" and competitive matches. Normally they have 12 to 20 players. This sport is growing fast and there other places cropping up all across Texas. From Victoria, near the coast, to the Robson Ranch active adult community in Denton, the game is establishing roots across the Lone Star State. Houston currently claims the greatest concentration of pickleball activity. Check your area YMCA's and recreation centers to see if they have added this fun sport yet.
