Pickleball has been called “one of the fastest growing sports in America” by AM 1400 ESPN. ESPN continues, “Playing pickleball is a great way to stay active and healthy because it’s so fun. It’s the perfect game to play as a family; it is one of the few sports where kids, parents, and grandparents can all play.
According to the USA Pickle Ball Association, it’s a fun game played on a badminton court with the net lowered to 34 inches at the center. It is played with a perforated plastic baseball (similar to a whiffle ball) and wood or composite paddles. Pickleball players say it’s easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.
The Tournament registration fee is $15 for MJCCA members, and $20 for non-members and Silver Sneakers members. The group is open to males and females of all ages. Nets, balls, and paddles (limited number) are provided.
Participants can also register at the door.
