Sometimes we all have the desire to pick up and go, and that drive to well drive to a new destination away from Manhattan is the premise behind Jennifer Aniston’s new comedy “Wanderlust” by Universal Pictures. It is also a great opportunity to see Aniston on the silver screen with her new leading man in life as well, Justin Theroux. Justin has been Jennifer’s constant companion since the film wrapped and rumored baby daddy. It is also a great way to see Jennifer also act with Paul Rudd again. They were paired together in 1998 for the film “The Object of My Affection.”
According to The Newark Star Ledger, George (Rudd) has a job he hates but which pays a lot of money. Linda (Aniston) has a different cool career every year, none of which pays anything. They have an apartment that’s tiny, and a mortgage that’s huge, and all of this seems natural to them. Then again, they live in Manhattan.
The paper adds, “But then Linda’s latest amusing career goes bust, George loses his job and that monthly mortgage payment that once just seemed ridiculous now appears to be impossible. So they pack up their entire lives in a couple of cardboard boxes and go on the road, looking for a new start. And find a really strange one when a left turn lands them in the middle of a crunchy granola commune.”
This is the premise behind the Paul Rudd and Jennifer Aniston comedy “Wanderlust,” and it feels a little like Rudd’s recent “Our Idiot Brother.” This movie, according to The Ledger, is about two Type A people trying to go mellow.
Director David Wain co-wrote the script with Ken Marino. “The leads are charming and although the plot twists are obvious, there are some funny scenes here. You can see why these comics are favorites of other comics – they’re constantly pushing things just a bit further, holding shots for too long, letting scenes grow uncomfortable,” adds The Ledger.
Nonetheless I cannot wait to see it and review it for myself. Staten Islanders who like to stay awake for premieres will get the chance to see this film tomorrow at 12:01 a.m. at UA All Staten Island Stadium 16 Theatre at 2474 Forest Avenue in Staten Island, New York.
