This month’s Pick’n Save coupon books are good through the end of the month (which is only till the 29th, in case you’ve forgotten that February is a short month, even in a leap year). And while the books are not supposed to be available in stores, they have been seen at the service counters in some local stores. Also, although some coupons are restricted to certain stores, a manager of one store confided that any Pick'n Save store or Metro Market will honor them.
So what bargains can you get with this month’s coupons? What about Creamette Pasta (in 12- to 16-ounce boxes) for only 98¢ and Ragu pasta sauce (in a 16- to 24-ounce jar) for only $1.28? That’s the better part of dinner for as many as eight people for only $2.26 (that’s less than 29¢ per serving).
The boxes suggest that you can make a meal out of one ounce of pasta, but nobody does. Two ounces, though, is a reasonable serving, especially if you add a salad. If you’re looking for salad components, there’s another coupon for a large California celery for only 98¢, one for an 8-ounce package of mini sweet peppers for only $1.78, and one for a 16 ounce bag of Roundy’s shredded cheese for only $2.98.
In the alternative, there’s another coupon for a fully cooked rotisserie chicken for only $4.98 (but don’t forget, these fully cooked chickens are taxable).
For dessert, think about baking chocolate chip cookies. Assorted Nestle morsels are only $1.98 per bag with another coupon from the book.
And to counteract the effect those chocolates on our teeth, there’s another coupon in the book for a 6.4 ounce tube of Colgate toothpaste or a Colgate Plus toothbrush for only 98 cents.
