Piccino Cafe, the Dogpatch pizzeria with creative seasonal pies, is moving.

Don't worry Dogpatchers, the restaurant is staying in the neighborhood.  The move will take Piccino from its vibrant blue building on the corner of Tennessee and 22nd to a yellow building on the corner of Minnesota and 22nd, just a block away.  (Piccino's new address will be 1001 Minnesota Street.)

According to Sher Rogat, one of the co-owners of Piccino, the primary reason for the move is space.  The new restaurant will seat about 70 diners, a significant upgrade over existing tight quarters.  Just like the current location, there will also be additional outdoor seating, which should come as a welcome relief to those of us who travel to Dogpatch for a slice of sunlight when the rest of the city is bathed in fog.

Rogat explained that Piccino will be sharing the building with two local businesses: Modern Appealing Clothing (MAC), a clothing store, and DIG, a wine shop/bar that will be run by Rogat's husband.  Piccino's coffee bar, which currently slings Blue Bottle Coffee just down the block on 22nd street, will also have a space in the building, and will be physically attached to the restaurant, though have its own entrance.

The entrance to the new Piccino, as well as to MAC and DIG, will be on Minnesota Street.  The outdoor seating will also be along Minnesota.  Piccino's coffee bar will move into the 22nd Street side of the property and will feature a pass-through window to the restaurant proper.

A peek into the construction site makes it clear that a final product is a little way off, as the crew is still putting up frames for the rooms and the building facade has not been redone at all.  Rogat is hoping--"knock on wood"--for a move-in sometime in November, but says it will happen by the end of the year for sure.

As for the current location, Rogat is hoping a new eatery will move in there as well.  The only bad news seems to be that Piccino will have to close for a little while to complete the move, though Rogat says that the goal is, of course, to make that hiatus as brief as possible.

Piccino, one of the linchpins in the mini-revival taking place in Dogpatch, appears to be taking things to the next level.
