Pianist Jeremy Denk will begin summer touring at the Music Academy of the West

Following the success of The Classical Style: An Opera (of Sorts), performed at both the 2014 Ojai Music Festival and Ojai North at the University of California at Berkeley, Jeremy Denk, who wrote the opera’s libretto, can go back to being a pianist. His summer touring plans will begin this weekend, and the performances he has planned will feature Ludwig van Beethoven, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Charles Ives. The Beethoven will provide his “concerto” focus for the summer, the Opus 15 in C major, the first of the piano concertos to be published but the second of the published concertos that Beethoven wrote. The other two composers will be represented by Denk’s portfolio of recordings, the BWV 988 set of 30 (“Goldberg”) variations on an aria theme by Bach and Ives’ second piano sonata, given the subtitle “Concord, Mass., 1840-1860.” The specifics are as follows:
