Preschool: Kid Skills
Coordinate: Rock and Roll to a Standing Position
Kid Skills: when a youngster who is seated on their bottom, can make their body roll backwards and then, with arm control get their feet underneath themselves to come a STAND....that is a WOW experience for preschoolers!
They gain that "I Can Do That!" feeling of confidence. With a little guidance from YOU, the child's first teacher, they can develop:
- Spatial awareness
- Both sides of their body
Children as they grow taller must also attend to the changes in their distance from the ground. Yes, they are incrementally farther from the floor each day and that 'bigger' distance must be programmed into their awareness of the:
Amount of force that is needed to jump off the supporting surfaces: ground, floor, swings.
Distance needed to reach an object: perceptual awareness.
Increases in their own weight and the changes in acceleration and stopping forward motion.
They will not be able to express their gains in fundamental movement kid skills but they will be learning, nonetheless.
With a few minutes of practice, children can improve their simple skills and being ability development to their movement knowledge. Again, they do not realize this but you can give them a significant aid by guiding them though the series of tasks that make up the six Manuals of the KidSKILLS Movement and Sports Training eBooks.
Look of this Task: Rock and Roll to a Stand as a sample of the simple jobs you child can tray to master as they build their kid skills vocabulary of movements.
