Adam Lambert joined Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Carrie Underwood and a host of other music industry heavy hitters on the red carpet for the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday night, but this time he was acting as paparazzi.
Adam Lambert's debut album 'For Your Entertainment' was released too late to be in contention for this year's Grammy Awards, but the American Idol runner up still found a way to be a part of the music industry's biggest night. Lambert scored a gig as red carpet correspondent at the event for Entertainment Tonight.
Adam Lambert dubbed Taylor Swift a "tall Glamazon," called Rihanna "sparkly and incredible" and grilled fellow American Idol alum Carrie Underwood on her wedding inspired mini-dress. Lambert also scored some fashion props of his own from Project Runway host Heidi Klum who dug his "shiny" look.
The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards were held at the Staples Center in Downtown Los Angeles. The Staples Center has been home to the Grammy Awards since 2004. The 20,000 seat arena was built in 1998 and, in combination with the neighboring 'L.A. Live' venue, is the heart of the downtown Los Angeles district that developers are hoping will become 'Times Square West'. The Staples Center was also the site of this summer's Michael Jackson Memorial Tribute Concert.

Seriously, when The Black Eyed Peas can be chosen to sing--over Lambert something is really wrong in the Music World. The Peas song is not even a real song to me. They sing the same lyrics over and over until it's mind numbing. What happened to music? I was so disappointed watching the Grammy's.
Is anyone as tired of Beyonce as I am?
the only performance i loved last night was lady gaga and elton's duet!!!! all the rest sucked specially taylor's performance it made my ears bleed!!!! she was out of tune and no voice at all!!! i can't understand how the heck did she get those 4 awards?!! i mean seriously r they f****** kidding me?!!! if i had to describe last night i would say BORING!!!!
I enjoyed the show. Lady Gaga seemed to really enjoy performing with the iconic Sir Elton- two fantastic voices, two highly creative performing artists. Pink, another greeat singer'performing artist- and no harness used. Brave lady. Green Day's 21 gun salute reminded my of a 60s performance from 'hair' -terrific. Lil Wayne.Eminem.Drake-seeing slash on stage, Beyonce, Lady Antebellum great; One bad note: Taylor Swift
Grammy's only allow people who have won and award in the past or mominated for an award to perform. There was no slight to Adam. His album came out to late this year to qualify. He was just there having fun and networking. Go Adam! He looked gorgeous!!
Man I wish this site let you edit!!!
JLM- Man, I hope what you said is true. That would make me feel soooo much betterer. I thought it was just a continuation of network black-balling Adam from live performances.
"Can I see your back? Whooooo, that's pretty."
That got old, fast.
Yes! to the Beyonce overload. Enough already!
Taylor Swifts awards were sympathy awards after her last time at the award podium's debacle (Kanye). Surely, one cannot think of her as a 'singer'. She did sound absolutely horrible singing with Stevie Nicks...I felt sorry for Stevie. Music all sounds like the same mish mash all the time....
Overall, probably the worst Grammy Awards ever. What's the fascination with Taylor Swift? She can't carry a note to save her life and the expression on Stevie Nicks' face was priceless.
Would have loved to see Adam perform. In a nutshell, too many special effects, not enough good singing.
I thought Adam Lambert was adorable working on the red carpet. I was disappointed that I didn't get to see him perform though. I didn't even get to see him on the red carpet the night of the 'Grammys' either. I had to watch him on 'Entertainment Tonight', and YouTube to see what he had to say about the best and worst dressed. He is so sweet, it was cute watching him give his opinion about what he thought didn't work. I thought his time was more entertaining than most of the show. Lady Gaga, and Elton John were outstanding. Pink was unbelievable. Talk about raising the bar for other perfomers. Can you imagine what kind of shape you would have to be in to perform like that. She was just beautiful! Beyonce was fantastic also. Adam was the big thing missin though for me. It was a huge lrt down that he wasn't on. I hope he will be on next year. I would love to see him perform with Lady GaGa!
Okay, I LOVE Adam Lambert. But, I am really sad that he took the job as a fashion commentator. Yes, he knows fashion and is dressed to kill at every event. But, he should not put himself in the position of critiquing his fellow musicians. Bad move! I know it's all in good fun, in a way, but Carrie Underwood does not need to be critiqued by him. Adam is so gracious and kind all of the time, why put himself in the position of critic. Most everything he said was positive, and I know he does not take himself too seriously, but still. He should SING, he should BE fashionable, he should be the one being interviewed, not the interviewer. Did I love watching him smile and chat with the Divas? Yes, he was his glittery charming self, as always. But, next year I want to hear him SING on the Grammys and nothing else.
Lady Gaga with Elton John and Pink saved the Grammy. Pink's performance was absolutely amazing. Simply unforgettable! And what is Beyonce's head banging kneeling about the stage? She should have been on that leash in ADAM's AMA performance! LOL!
I loved the tribute to MJ. It showed how phenomenal his talent is, in singing and songwriting. MJ overshadowed everyone's live singing of his song on that stage. ADAM would have been great together with Jennifer H in that tribute. Funny how AI especially Simon set the standard so high we cannot simply accept mediocre singers. Asher's falsetto was lousy. A lot of them pitchy especially the group that sang GOD Bless America although I like it. And I don't know why Taylor Swift is getting all the awards. She's an awesome girl but a much awarded singer???
I am completely "ruined" for these music awards shows. I will always be hoping for an Adam Lambert (AMA style performance). I did think Lady Gaga and Pink were really creative and visually stunning, but I hope to see Adam next year.
I loved the interviews Adam did and I was laughing at the questions and the way he called folks out with their styles. He loves creativity and he had fun and I was laughing. "Shimmy!" The best interview when he had the whole Black Eyed Peas gang out and had the guys showing off their threads. Loved it. "Spaceman!" "Funky Fresh". That was great. Fashion is so much a part of musicians and entertainer's worlds. It was great having Adam do his thing but next year I want him to sing aw well.
I was disappointed that Adam Lambert didn't sing anything, not even in the MJ tribute. I was really bummed. His fashion correspondent gig was more fun that half of the whole show. I loved the MJ tribute, I loved seeing SLASH on stage that man can rock and hello...PINK STOLE THE SHOW! That woman is so crazy gifted. I would love to see PINK and Adam Lambert do a song with SLASH! I laughed at the fact I couldn't hear any of the Drak and Eminem song thru all the bleeping out. Classic!
Adam is staying in the public eye and that is great. He did a great job talking with the people on the Red Carpet. I do agree with the overall evaluation of the awards program. If was painful this year. The vocals take a back seat to the sound systems and flashing lights. I could not understand one word of Beyonce's song! And why would she crawn around like a dog flopping her hair? Performers really rely too much on the added electrical help to "make their vocals" sound better. (ie Taylor Swift) Have you ever turned off the sound and "listened" with your eyes? Adam tells the story of the song with his eyes and hands. It is an amazing gift. Adam Lambert, without any musical back up, would have shamed everyone off the stage! Give him another year and they will be begging him to perform!
What happened to the girl that won American Idol? You only hear about Adam now. That's cool - he is very talented.
