The Hurt Locker won big at the Academy and walked away with six Oscars Sunday night. The Hurt Locker was a low-budget Iraq war drama and won over the other nine nominees, including the mega-hit Avatar.
The Director of The Hurt Locker, Kathryn Bigelow became the first woman ever to win an Oscar for best director at the Academy Awards.
Sandra Bullock received her first nomination at the 2010 Academy Awards and won Best Actress for The Blind Side. Jeff Bridges has been nominated five times before, and he won his first Oscar last night for Crazy Heart.
The 2010 Oscars were hosted by Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin.
The Best Picture nominations include: Avatar, A Serious Man, An Education, Blind Side, The Hurt Locker, District 9, Up, Up in the Air, Inglorious Basterds and Precious.
The Hurt Locker was expected to win Best Picture. But one of the producers of the Hurt Locker may have hurt those chances, and his attendance has been banned by the Academy. For more on that story, click here.
Precious was up for an Oscar for Best Picture. Precious premiered at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. Precious won the audience award and grand jury prize at Sundance.
